Access and placement in Redmond

Three site types, and the first one runs by rules that are not the city's.

On a campus, the roads are not public roads. They belong to the property, and everything about a delivery is governed by whoever runs the site: which gate, which route, which hours, where a container may stand and for how long. That is a straightforward arrangement once it is written down, and an expensive one to improvise. In the denser downtown and Overlake sites, the approach is the question. The ground is private but there is little of it spare, and the way in is frequently a service court, a loading area or something with a structure overhead. The 15 and 20 ride a smaller truck and reach a good deal that the full-size one cannot — but where the approach is genuinely low or tight, the honest answer is a set spot outside and a short haul out to it. Describe the approach when you book and you will get that answer before a crew day depends on it.

Permits and right-of-way in Redmond

Placement on private property — a driveway, a lot, a fenced job site — needs no permit. Where a container has to sit on a public street, a planting strip, or a sidewalk, the City of Redmond administers that right-of-way and you need its permission before delivery day.

Most Redmond work never reaches that question, and it is worth being clear about why: campuses and commercial parcels are private ground, and the residential east side has driveways. Where the street genuinely is the only option — usually on a denser downtown site — ask early and ask for the shortest container the work allows.

There is a second authority worth naming, because people assume the city covers everything inside the city. It does not cover a private campus. Where nothing goes in, the answer is a set spot outside the structure and a plan for moving material out to it — workable, but only if it is planned rather than discovered.
