Some sites are genuinely hard to reach, and most haulers deal with that by saying no on the phone. If somebody has already looked at your approach and passed, it is worth one more conversation — the 15 and 20-yard containers go out on smaller trucks than the 30 and 40, and that single difference opens up alleys, parking structures and dead-end drives that a full-size roll-off truck simply cannot use.

The advantage is the truck, not the container

This is the part that is usually explained backwards, so it is worth being exact. A shorter container is not a smaller delivery footprint. Setting a box down takes a straight run and clear space overhead, and that requirement is much the same whichever size you order — the room is needed by the vehicle doing the work, not by the container once it is sitting there.

What actually changes is the vehicle. Our 15-yard roll-off and the 20-yard go out on smaller trucks than the 30 and the 40 do. That is a physical difference in the equipment rather than a sales position, and it is the whole reason a site somebody else turned down is often still workable.

These are the same roll-off containers everybody books. There is no separate small-container product and we are not selling you a compromise — when a site is tight, a compact set-up is simply the answer to the problem you have. What actually stops a delivery

Five things, in roughly the order they cause problems. None of them is exotic and all of them are knowable before a truck leaves.

Width at the tightest point. Not the average width of the alley or the drive — the narrowest pinch anywhere along it. That is the number that decides, and it is usually somewhere people do not think to look: a gate post, a parked car that is always there, a corner where two walls come together.

What crosses overhead. The most common reason a delivery fails on arrival. Setting a container means lifting it clear and lowering it, then lifting it again for the collection, so a service line, a pipe run, a sign or a low structural beam over the drop spot rules it out even where the ground is completely open. Overhead is also the thing people genuinely do not notice, because you drive under it every day.

Turning and backing room. A container is set by backing to the spot. Somewhere on the approach the truck has to line up straight, and a dead end with no room to turn at the far end is a different problem from a narrow route with a turnaround at the top.

Surface. What the truck crosses and what the box sits on. Soft ground, unimproved drives and older thin slab all matter, and they matter more with heavier material. A finished driveway is its own case — keeping a container from marking one is mostly where it sits and what goes underneath it.

Somewhere to put it that is not where you are working. The one people forget. On a constrained site the only reachable spot is sometimes the spot the crew needs, and that is worth discovering at booking rather than on the morning.

That last one also decides how the container comes back. A swap-out needs room for two boxes at the same moment, even briefly, and a site with a single narrow approach and one place to set down does not have it — so the answer is a dump and return, where the container leaves, gets emptied, and comes back to the same spot. If somebody has already told you no

This is who the page is for. A contractor who has been turned down once does not need a marketing claim — they need a straight answer from somebody who will look at the actual approach.

So: describe it and we will say whether we can make it work. Width at the pinch, what is overhead, where a truck could turn, what the surface is. Photographs from the road are worth more than measurements you are not confident in, and a two-minute conversation settles most of it.

Sometimes the answer will still be no, and we would rather say that on the phone than send a truck that cannot do the job. That is not a caveat we are hiding at the bottom of the page — it is the reason to believe the yes. Anyone who tells you they can reach every site has not looked at yours. What we can promise is that you will know before anything is scheduled, and that if there is a way in we will have found it.

Where a site genuinely will not take a container at all, that is still useful to know early, because it changes how the job gets planned rather than how the delivery gets attempted.

No, and this is the thing most people have backwards. Delivery clearance is much the same whichever container you order, because what needs the room is the truck setting it down, not the box once it is there. A shorter container is not a smaller delivery footprint. What genuinely changes on a tight site is which vehicle brings it, and that is decided by the size you book.

What do you need to know before you come out?

Can you put a container inside a parking structure?

Sometimes, and overhead is what decides it rather than floor space. A structure with generous bays can still be unreachable if the entry, a pipe run or a sprinkler main sits lower than the truck needs. Tell us the lowest point on the route in — not the ceiling height in the middle — and we will know quickly whether it works.
